Gonsenhausers Fine Rugs was established in 1938 and is now a third-generation rug dealer run today by the founder’s grandson Charles Gonsenhauser. In 2021 inline with global trends we opened the first online store for the Epiphany Rugs brand.
Historically our expertise was rooted in quality oriental rugs, however, over the years we've come to offer every type of rug imaginable. With access to all the major weaving centres, Gonsenhauser now offer everything from traditional to the latest in contemporary designs and even a customised rug service that allows you to create the rug of your dreams.
Travelling to all the major trade shows in Europe and the East, Charles Gonsenhauser brings the latest designs and styles to their De Waterkant and Woodstock showrooms.
Besides our imported offering, Gonsenhausers looks to South Africa for inspiration by working with local designers and artists, such as Julia Swanepoel Pepler, to offer ongoing exclusive collections of unique rug designs to the industry.
Their exceptional service from decorating advice, appraisals and certificates of authenticity to exchange guarantees, cleaning and restoration means they’re a one-stop rug destination.
Besides Valuations and Certificates of Authenticity, Epiphany also offer Exchange Guarantees of 1 year. This means that during this time should you redecorate, or your tastes change, you are welcome to exchange your undamaged rug for one you prefer. Their Lifetime Guarantee on the production of all their rugs means that they can guarantee the rug you purchase will remain intact in your lifetime.
In addition to their array of services Epiphany also offer a complete in-house Cleaning and Restoration Service. From Dhurries to fine silk pieces, their expertise and professionalism is well known and respected. Turnaround times are between 7 and 14 days depending on what cleaning and/ or repair work is required. A collection and delivery service is also offered.
